Wind

Wind-powered electric systems convert wind into electricity. As the air flows past the rotor of a wind turbine (a rotor that looks like an airplane propeller), the rotor spins and drives the shaft of an electric generator.

Forty-six of the 50 states have wind resources that can be developed economically.

Properly designed wind systems can produce electricity at a cost competitive with or even lower than conventional energy sources in a variety of settings ranging from urban areas to remote farmland. Wind systems can operate for more than 20 years, even under harsh conditions. Low cost and reliability make wind power the fastest growing renewable energy technology in the US.

Switch offers systems for a number of applications ranging from off-grid water pumping to reliable back-up power to wind-powered traffic lights.
